The Race the Rubeena Fun Run is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Sale. It aims to both bring people together on Sunday March 11 (Labor day Weekend) and raise funds for local projects. Every cent raised will be dispersed to the community.
This year we are raising money for the restoration of the historic Sale Water Tower in Victoria Park, Sale.
The plan is for it to be fully restored and turned into a museum and tourist attraction.
The event itself comprises two runs or run/walk events: a 10 km and a 5 km. The 10km event will start and finish at the newly refurbished Port of Sale.
The 5km event will commence at the historic Swing Bridge at Longford (designed by John Grainger, the man who designed the Water Tower) and travel back to Sale along the Thompson River and Sale Canal.
This event will see competitors Race the Rubeena, the lovely wooden boat that is operated by Port of Sale heritage Cruises, carrying sight see-ers along local waterways.
The 10 k event will start at 8 am. The 5 k event will start at 9 am.
Transfers to the Swing Bridge will be provided.
