Annual Charity Fun Golf Day

7 October @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm AEDT

Yarram Annual Golf Day

Would you like a game of golf amongst the Wallabies?

The Rotary Club of Yarram hosts an annual charity golf day to raise funds for Gippsland Rotary Centenary House (GRCH). Commenced in 2011 from an idea by then President Wilma Price, the inaugural event was a success with 90 golfers completing the course.

GRCH was a major project to mark 100 years of the formation of Rotary clubs, opening in 2006. It’s a shared, and subsidised accommodation facility for families and patients accessing Latrobe Regional Hospital and the cancer treatment unit.

The Rotary Club of Yarram is proud to be one of the Rotary clubs which contributed to the initial cost, of approximately $2 million to build Stage one. A large proportion of the club’s annual disbursements over 2003 – 2005 were contributed. Without Government support for daily operational expenses, GRCH is heavily reliant on local businesses, groups, and individuals for financial support.

The Rotary Club Yarram’s annual charity golf day is on Sunday 7th October commencing at 10 am. The course is a lovely 18 hole, grassed green, well bunkered, and carved from the natural forest which is a classified wildlife area.  Watch out for wallabies during your game!

Tickets are only $25 per head and include 18 holes of golf, sausage sizzle and morning and afternoon tea.

The event is a Four-Person Ambrose (Men’s, Ladies, or Mixed) including a Ladies only team event. The Rotary club of Yarram is supported by many local businesses, individuals and sporting clubs. They generously supply prizes for the raffle, team prizes, and charity auction. Last year $3,600.00 was raised with 90 plus golfers taking part in this pleasant physical activity.

The winners last year were Albert Greenaway, his twin Rotarian Eric Greenaway, Dale Bell, and Peter Briggs.

The Rotary Club of Yarram

Charted in 1947 by the Traralgon Rotary Club they celebrated their 70th birthday last year.  Their major projects are the Tara Festival and the Annual Charity Golf Day. They support Rotary Youth Exchange, Group Study Exchange, Polio, The Rotary Foundation, and Australian Rotary Health. Their local projects are; Yarram Secondary College, the Yarram & District Health Service, and Australia Day celebration.

They’ve been instrumental in the initiation of the Yarram outdoor Swimming Pool, the Yarram Library; the Station youth centre; the BBQ rotunda in the Memorial Park; tree planting along the Tarra Trail bike track; and the establishment of Meals on Wheels. The Club initiated and obtained grant monies to erect a covered walkway and carport at the town’s aged care hostel, Crossley House.
